Your generosity was so very apparent yesterday as the donations came pouring in for the EMS Staff Appreciation Cookie Extravaganza. There was an amazing variety and we were able to cover the entire conference table in the staff lounge as you can see below. The staff was amazed and they asked that we send a huge THANK YOU back to the community. So THANKS to all our bakers and buyers for making this week extra sweet for the EMS Staff.
Special thanks to Kim Luciano and Sachiko Nanaumi for volunteering for set-up and cookie running and to Jean De Cairano and Sharon Renzo for cookie running.
Thanks to all the families who donated!

Photo packages for your remaining children will be free. Please mark “FP” in the amount boxes of those order forms. (i.e. if you have 3 or more children- only pay for 2).
If your child forgets his/her form on October 4th or 5th, you may still place your order. Your child will still sit for his/her photo. In the event that you are unhappy with your child’s photos or your child is absent on October 4th or 5th, Photo Retake Day is November 16th. Please be sure to return the entire photo package on that day in order for your child to sit for a new photo.

We are pleased to announce that the EMS PTA general membership approved a gift of two classroom sets of Chromebooks to the Eastchester Middle School at our May 15th meeting.
Valued at approximately $18,500, this gift will enable the Middle School to purchase 60 new Chromebooks for use by our faculty and students to enhance the curriculum and learning experience of our children.
In case you are not familiar with these devices, a Chromebook is a laptop running the Linux-based Chrome OS as its operating system. Chromebooks are used in ELA, Social Studies and Science classrooms, enabling a more interactive and collaborative way for students to learn. Unlike a text book, a Chromebook never goes out-of-date and seamlessly edits, changes and highlights information. Josh Elder, our Assistant Principal, shared that teachers are eager to implement Chromebooks into their classrooms and see that students are more engaged in completing assignments when the work is done via the Chromebook. Given the additional 60 devices, they are closer to their goal of each team having a set of Chromebooks to share.
The gift was made possible by the generous support of our EMS PTA community, with funds from our “Armchair Fundraiser” and other fundraising activities throughout the school year. We would like to thank all members of our school community – parents, administrators, teachers, and students – who supported our programs and fundraising efforts this year. Your generosity, hard work and time commitment made this wonderful gift possible.
We have been honored to serve this year with such a dedicated board.

THANKS TO EVERYBODY WHO CONTRIBUTED TO AND VOLUNTEERED AT THE EMS SPRING CLOTHING DRIVE! It was a very successful day.
Join the EMS PTA for a presentation on Internet Safety given by Laura Forbes, Westchester County Assistant District Attorney of the High Technology Crime Bureau. Ms. Forbes will speak to parents about issues such as cyberbullying, online predators, identity theft and apps that children and teens use that parents may not be aware of. Assistant District Attorney Laura Forbes has a unique perspective on these issues since she actively prosecutes cases related to high tech crimes for the county. This meeting is for parents only due to the nature of the subject matter. Middle school staff will be on hand to answer questions on how these issues are dealt with at the school.

The MS Players club presents two great plays in one evening!
A Midsummer Vacation Nightmare by Tim Kochenderfer
A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare
Their third annual production will be performed January 26th at 7:00 in the EHS Auditorium.
In A Midsummer Vacation Nightmare, a pair of star crossed lovers attempt to find a way to transfer out of Athens High School before the principal forces them date other people! All the while a janitor with magical powers and some mischievous fairies make trouble for a group of students trying to mount a school play!
Followed by A Midsummer Nights Dream, Shakespeare’s most popular comedy! Four youths flee into a magical wood to find their true love. Along the way they encounter warring factions of fairies and slow witted craftsmen. It is a classic tale of love, magic and mystery.
This evening of comedy and drama is our biggest yet!
40+ amazing performers, will be performing these two plays back to back with a 15 minute intermission.
Come out and lend your support to our young and growing MS Drama Program.
Tickets are general admission and can be purchased at the door starting at 6:00pm. $5 Students/Seniors and $10 for Adults.
